This policy describes how B-TIFF Viewer (“the app”), published by Oleksii Bei (Beyka), handles information. The app is a local TIFF image viewer for Android. It does not create user accounts and does not upload the files you open.
The app reads TIFF files that you choose through the Android Storage Access Framework or that another app sends with a view intent. Those files stay on the device. The app does not copy them to a server, share them with other apps, or use them for advertising.
If a storage provider does not give a seekable file descriptor, the app may create a temporary copy in its private cache so the image can be decoded. That copy is removed when the viewing session ends.
If you enable disk cache in Settings, the app stores decoded image regions in private app storage to speed up later viewing. Cache files never leave the device. You can turn the cache off or delete it in Settings. Source TIFF files are not modified.
The app may keep a persistable read permission for a file you opened so the same image can be restored after the app is restarted. If the system withdraws that permission, you will need to select the file again.
Cache size, cache on/off, and the “show large images quickly” option are stored locally in app preferences. Viewer position (page, zoom, pan, rotation) may be saved on the device so it can be restored in the same session or after a configuration change. This information is not sent to the developer.
The app uses Firebase Crashlytics, including native crash reporting, provided by Google. When the app crashes or detects a fatal native fault, Crashlytics may collect:
Crash reports are used only to find and fix defects. They are processed by Google as a service provider. The app does not attach the contents of your TIFF files to crash reports.
The app includes Firebase Analytics, provided by Google. Analytics may collect automatic app-usage events such as session starts, app version, device and OS information, country or region derived from IP address, and language. The app does not log the names or contents of opened files as analytics events.
Advertising ID collection is disabled. The app does not show ads and does not use analytics for advertising or remarketing.
The app requests network access so Crashlytics and Analytics can send diagnostic data. Opening this privacy policy from the About screen uses the system browser. Image files are not uploaded.
The app does not request access to all files or to photos and videos. It only reads documents you explicitly grant through the system picker or a view intent. It does not use the advertising ID.
The app is a general-purpose image viewer. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Diagnostic data is sent to Google Firebase as described above. The developer does not sell user data and does not share TIFF files with third parties. Local cache and preferences remain on the device until you clear them, uninstall the app, or the system reclaims storage. Crash and analytics records are retained according to Google Firebase retention settings.
Android backup of app data is disabled.
